Shoyswell Ongoings

Shoyswell Ongoings

Quack Quack!

As the mellow mists of Autumn start to gather in the valley, and the fruits ripen gently in our orchard; as the trees begin to turn a rainbow of russet, cherry and yellow, so all seems peaceful at Shoyswell...

Not necessarily so! Once the last guests have departed for this season, the builders will be setting up in earnest in our front driveway, and the construction of the new wing and small courtyard will  be taking place.

Lawrence and I are so proud to announce that we will be opening 3 more ensuite rooms, each with a distinctive style, in readiness for our 2018 season

I will never tire of receiving guest reviews, as long as they continue in the vein of this most recent one from Laterooms.com:

A little bit of spoil...
If you're looking for corporate, predictable, impersonal then you'll loathe this. If however you're searching for luxury, personalised, charming then book immediately. I loved the journey (in the middle of nowhere, the welcome, the impeccable taste in decor, refreshments and overall thought & detail. If you dislike remoteness, dogs, ducks, countryside or great styling then it will not be as lovely. Rarely am I surprised, delighted and totally at ease in hotels or B&B's - this was the exception.

Thank you to the author!

I was delighted to receive the following e-mail today from a lovely couple who stayed with us last week. I am also pleased that the "Meet & Greet" committee, comprising Tiny and Lola, seem to be taking their roles seriously:

"Hi Jolyon,

Just wanted to say, many thanks for the terrific time we had staying with you last week. We enjoyed it tremendously. We very much appreciated your wonderful hospitality and the beautiful surroundings. You couldn’t have made us feel more welcome.I have been telling everyone I’ve been in contact with about it and recommending you ever since. I hope we can make a return visit one day. Please pass on our thanks to Lawrence too. He certainly has a very creative eye and it was great to meet him, albeit briefly!

Lastly, we couldn’t forget Tiny and Lola. Please make a fuss of them and give them some bacon rind at breakfast on our behalf!!

 Thanks again......Debbie and Ian"

So, even though I am a technophobe and Luddite, our friends at Fluxio, the brilliant website designers, have done their best to make me techno-savvy, and able to input information into our own website so that we can communicate with you, our lovely Guests.

So the B&B has been full since Thursday last week, and I am just waiting for the Belgian Golfing party (3 lovely couples) to come down for their breakfast, but, I can't help myself, I have to broadcast a couple of the comments we received from two young couples who stayed over the week-end.
The lovely people from Harrogate said, "Hi Jolyon & Lawrence
Thank you once again for a wonderful weekend! Your cottage is absolutely gorgeous - we will definitely be recommending you to friends and family!
Look forward to seeing you again in July!"

Yes! It's true! They liked it so much they booked again to stay with us immediately.

And the couple from Denmark and New Zealand wrote, "Good morning Jolyon. Thanks again for a wonderful weekend at your cottage. You were very attentive and we loved everything about the place, inside and out. I also think we made some new friends in Tiny, Lola and Dexter ."

New guests arrived yesterday, a nice middle-aged couple who I am guessing were originally from up North.
